Happy Friday,
How was your week?
Mine was epic. I spent the week with my oldest, who was studying in Edinburgh for the semester (I missed her so much). Since I can work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks, I started my world tour and worked out of three London offices.
I chose to join Google to learn how to win with tech and data, but I also chose the brand. If you love rankings, Google is #2 globally, just behind Apple. But I would argue that every list has it all wrong.
Taylor Swift should be number one.
As the world watches the Era’s tour, she is rewriting a masterclass in brand building by doing 3 simple things;
- Owns a compelling narrative | captivating storytelling that resonates with authenticity.
- Deep understanding of her audience | by fostering emotional connections that go beyond transactional.
- Scarcity, scarcity, scarcity | ability to generate excitement around her offerings.
And if you don’t think she’s using data to do it, you’re still in 1989 (what time is it Taylor?). Here are the rules of the game:
- Knowing when | | Her ability to keep ranking on any charts with timely releases, songs, albums or dates has kept her top of mind and top of the charts more than any.
- RE-Engage your base | Her ninja-level insertion of hidden messages and clues in all she does.
- Bringing net new in | New swiftie are joining the ranks with each new Era (read album) added.
Tay Tay is the first musician to make the billionaire club primarily based on her songs and performances, not side hustles such as fragrances or clothing lines.
As a proud mom of three swifties, each car trip means more Taylor singing. Each girl has different favourites: American Dynasty, Cowboy like me, and Karma (cuz cats, of course).
So when Dylan granted me a ticket to join her in London, I got to work, found some sparkles (not black), got bracelets with my favourite song, and learned all the secret codes (merci Lola) to look cool at Wembley with only 90k of my besties.
Every day is Taylor Day.
